30 Things About Me

30 Things About Me

It’s my 30th Birthday so I thought I’d share 30 things about myself… This ended up being far more challenging than I thought it would be to put this all together… I even had to enlist my mama’s help for a few! lol

In the most random order, here they are…

1. I long hated log cabins, then we bought one, and now I’m obsessed 😆

2. I can not, will not, eat mayonnaise!🙅🏼‍♀️

3. I always wanted to go to UT (University of Texas) to become an architect - maybe I still will 😉

4. I cannot ride a bike! I’m pretty sure my parents tried to teach me but it never stuck 🤦🏼‍♀️ LOL

5. My favourite temperature is hot car. You know, when you first sit in your warm vehicle before turning it on… Perfection! ☀️

6. I speak Español and Francais mais I’m poquito rusty 🤦🏼‍♀️

7. I climbed all the way to the top of the Eiffel Tower in flip flops (on our honeymoon). 👣

8. One of my favourite activities as a tween was making my Mum test drive trucks and tour show homes 🏡

9. I had my stagette on my birthday and had to wait until midnight to go to a club so I would be old enough - the legal age where got married in BC is 19. 🤣

10. I have lived in 18 houses in my 30 years, including two houses twice. 🏠

11. Road trips are my absolute favourite type of vacation - I love to feel like I really get to experience and discover new places along the way 🛣

12. I was born in Canada but moved to Texas when I was 9 months old 👶🏼

13. I once hid behind a parked car while skipping school because my mum drove by… and she saw me! 😆🤦🏼‍♀️

14. My hair styling abilities are severely lacking and consist of a simple braid, or straightening my hair 💇🏼‍♀️

15. I own far more plaid than I ever could have imagined… and love it more than I ever could have imagined 😏#mamadontgetdressedupfornothing

16. We stained out log cabin black and now I can’t imagine not living in a black home! 🖤

17. I am extreme about temperatures of things - soup and coffee and showers need to be really hot and cold drinks need to be really cold! 🌡

18. When I was a teenager, I always imagined my grown up self living in a converted loft in a downtown neighbourhood… now we live in the country and I want to have even more land and love even further out of “town.” 🚜

19. I got to doing a lot of traveling in central Mexico when I was a child and I have some of the most fun memories from there! I always loved the old architecture and the rich culture… some of my favourite places were Guadalajara, Real de Catorce, Zacatecas, Saltillo, and Guanajuato 🗺

20. I love being in my kitchen and cooking for my family but I get super distracted following a recipe! So I normally just make things up as I go 🥣

21. I never planned on homeschooling my kiddos but, here we are, going into our fourth year! 📝

22. My Starbucks order is either a grande (extra hot) vanilla latte or a grande coffee frappe… keeping it simple ☕️

23. When we sell our cabin, and before we move to Texas, I’d like to buy a travel trailer and take some time “off” to just explore, visit family on the East coast, and have some time to relax with my people! 🏞

24. I worked as an interior designer (“in home design consultant”) for La-Z-boy when we first moved to Edmonton. I was 19 and I love it! 🛋

25. If I had to craft a men’s cologne, if would smell like leather, sawdust, and sweat, with a touch of gasoline and beer 😆 #classy

26. Once upon a time, I was the youngest home stager in Canada and was interviewed on the CBC. 🖼

27. I still check my bed for scorpions at night, before getting in to it (a habit from living in Texas). 🦂

28. I always have Shane sleep by the door or window of a room to protect me from intruders or violent attack coyotes 😝

29. I do not like fruit in salad, except for fruit salad. lol It’s just not right… 🍓

30. I have well over 100 blog posts that I have written and not actually posted. #chicken

Until I blog again,

Alex
