The 5 Random Things That Help Me Be More Productive in My Day
Y’all, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I am not an naturally productive or efficient person. Now, I’m not trying to put myself down, it’s just the honest trust, and it’s a truth I’ve come to be ok with! I don’t actually feel like I need to be productive and efficient at every point in my day, but there are points when I do, and that’s where I’ve learned a few strategies that help me achieve that…
Water in my Yeti!
Its not enough to simply have a glass of water, it has to be water in my Yeti, with the straw lid!! Hahaha I feel like such a princess saying this but it really does make a huge difference for me! I notice that I genuinely drink 3-4 times more water this way!! Drinking enough water is something I’ve long struggled with and this has make a huge difference in my life! I actually want to upgrade to an even bigger Yeti so I don’t have to refill it as often! I have this one but I’d love to get this one!
Wearing my running shoes!
This literaly makes me feel like I have a spring in my step and I feel like I move around the house more easily. Since I have scoliosis, wearing my runners also provides much needed support to my back and hips and so I’m not as achy, and when I’m not as achy, I get more done! Mind blowing stuff guys ;)
Music or a podcast in my ears!
My love for podcasts (I wrote about that here) and good music runs deep! It depends which task I’m doing as to which option I’ll choose to listen to, but I truly do find that it helps me stay on task, and do that task longer, if I’m listening to something! If I’m vacuuming or running around the house more, I’ll listen to music because I find it gets me jazzed up, but if I’m doing dishes or folding laundry, I love a podcast! Obviously I’m not listening to something in my ears if I’m doing school work with the kids or spending time with them but this is super helpful when I’m trying to get those household tasks done! It really does make them more fun!
Making my bed as soon as I wake up!
So, I know this is probably not a new concept to most of you but, sadly, it’s relatively new to me… I’ve been doing this for about 6 months now and it’s amazing what a difference it makes! Not only does my room feel tidier, but it makes my room into a space that I’m actually using during the day. It’s where I spend my afternoon quiet time and I love snuggling up there with the kids to read a chapter book. And if I’m working or sorting or decluttering something in my room, then I actually have a nice clear space to do that!
Rest
Whether it’s quiet time or a nap, taking some time to rest in the afternoon has been such an amazing addition to my day! The days I don’t take time to rest, I normally crash after dinner and I just don’t have the energy to get a thing done around the house. I definitely notice this since being pregnant but, since I have had health issues for the last few years (including Adrenal Fatigue that literally requires you to rest) it was something I had learned before too. Rest is quite literally good for your health and, when I’m at my best, that I’m able to give more to my family and get more accomplished. Side note: it’s also been a wildly successful practice for our kiddos too!
I’d love to hear from you… what helps you be more productive in your day?!
Until I blog again,
