Family Trips & A Funeral

Family Trips & A Funeral

We had planned on sticking close to home this summer… We had one family trip planned for a long weekend in the mountains with Shane’s side of the family, and that was it. Since we are moving forward with our plan to move to Texas, and summer is a great time to finish up a bunch of the random house projects we had on the go, that was all we had planned to do.

My precious Nana went to be with Jesus just a few days after we got home from being away with the Kolkmans. It’s funny how life’s circumstances can dictate our response to other events. We had thought about coming to the annual VK family camp but sometimes you just need a little push - a push to do the harder things because the outcome is so good. Time with family is such a gift and I love all of the memories our kids have stored up with them!

I personally think there is so much joy to be found in the unplanned moments of life. We ended up having a lovely relaxing time camping and, although we all wish it were under different circumstances, it was such a blessing to be able to gather with so much of my Hutchinson side of the family. God is in these unplanned moments and I’m so grateful, albeit a bit tuckered, for these summer experiences!

Until I blog again,

Alex
