Monthly Recap | February 2020

Monthly Recap | February 2020

Anyone else see that meme that said: “January was like an entire year long and February was 36 hours.” That pretty much sums up how I’ve felt about February- I seriously can’t believe we’re onto March now… Maybe it’s because I’m pregnant and we have so much to tackle but this year in general just seems to by moving at warp speed!!

We’ve had some fun little mini adventures this month, lots of time together as a family, and we’ve been taking advantage of still being in our colder season to tackle lots of decluttering! I just took another huge load of clothes and household items to the thrift store and that makes me so happy! I spent the majority of my efforts (in true Marie Kondo order) tackling our master closet and the kids’ shared closet and really pairing down their contents!

I have the pleasure of finishing out February with a little mini getaway to Lacombe for IF Gathering with a dear friend! But more on that later… ;) I’m also at the very end of the second trimester (you can read my 26 week bumpdate here) and really realizing that I need to pull our little nursery nook together… I’ve bought a grand total of one baby item so far - an oatmeal coloured sleeper! - yay me! LOL

[Currently Watching]

Border Security - Prime Video

Ok, so it turns out that we all love this show! This has long been one of Shane’s favourite shows so I thought I’d earn major wife points when I spotted this on Amazon and suggested we watch it - turns out I kinda find it fascinating too! And, after arching a few episodes on our own, we let the kids watch it (Sophie has asked to) and they find it super interesting. It’s rated 14A but that must only be on account of the drugs that they are dealing with; anything else is bleeped out and I honesty just thought it was educational for the kids and definitely made for some interesting conversations. ;) They only have season 5 so we’v already made it through all of the episodes!

This Flatland Life - The Panhandlers

Y’all know I love Texas but I honestly feel like this song is super relatable to anyone that lives in the prairies or an oil area (or is that one in the same? lol). The Panhandlers is a group of Texas musicians that have come together for a very Texan album and I’m really loving it! You can follow this crew on Instagram (here) and find the full album here.

Hard to Forget - Sam Hunt

Shane introduced me to this song because he heard it and figured I’d like it, and he was right! The beginning is SO twangy and the rest it just so catchy in typical Sam Hunt fashion… and I’m here for all of it! You can find the relatively new single here.

[Amazon Favourites]

Organika Enhanced Collagen

This is one of those items that we order every.single.month and it’s become such a a staple in our pantry! I first started using collagen to support Simon’s decaying teeth but now we all use it. I make sure we all have at least one serving a day - I typically add it to either a protein shake or smoothie for the kids and I in the mornings. I also love using it to add protein to a meal or snack that wouldn’t otherwise have it - like a bowl of granola for example or a coffee. Even the kids make sure they do this when they grab a snack!

I love that this company is Canadian and their price on Amazon is substantially cheaper than I’ve found in stores, although sometimes you can find a gigantic tub of this at Costco for a wicked deal! You can find it here.
